About Us

Kuntry Kidz Youth Foundation (“KK”) was founded in 2007 by Elisha Barnes-Booth in Collins, Mississippi. The organization was developed to address the lack of positive exposure, to provide accessibility to uplifting programs and positive role models for youth growing up in the south.

Our History

Kuntry Kidz (KK) was founded in 2007 with its first community workshop on financial literacy and college preparedness, later incorporating in 2008. In October 2008, Kuntry Kidz formed its first Board of Directors consisting of Billy Ford, Denise Brooks, Dena Parker, Elisha Barnes-Booth, and the late Richard Jones. In early 2009,  KK officially incorporated in the State of Mississippi. The organization quickly expanded its impact through ACT Prep Workshops, back-to-school drives, and the “Gemz & Gentz” mentoring program, which provided monthly educational and personal development opportunities. In 2013, KK launched its first fundraiser, “Cocktails for a Cause,” introduced its senior brunch to honor graduating students, and hosted its first Teen Leadership Summit for over 100 youth. By 2014, KK obtained 501(c)(3) status, strengthening its ability to build partnerships and expand resources for youth development.

In the years that followed, KK extended its reach to new communities, including a partnership with the Laurel Housing Authority in 2016 to mentor adolescent girls. Since its founding, KK has served hundreds of young people through innovative programs designed to build self-esteem, improve ACT scores, and foster leadership skills. The organization’s continued success is reflected in returning participants and the personal testimonies of students whose lives have been transformed through positive, impactful youth programming.
